Moving on from surrealist art and designers who come across as up-and-coming at a first glance yet are secretly the talk of the town, I have recently come across a London-based designer who managed to grab my attention; her name being, Lu Flux (quirky, right?) - After my disappointment in discovering that knitwear designer, Alice Palmer was in fact quite a popular designer who had shown internationally (including during New York Fashion week) after my initial "WOW, she's all urban and youthfu... Into The Void
Despite the fact that on Sunday over here in England we grabbed our first glance at what surprisingly seeming to be a reasonable summers day with temperatures hitting the mid 20s and borderline 30s, I still managed to sit indoors all day looking through an outstanding number of designer works until I found something which truly grabbed my eye; what can I say, I'm one of them teenagers who likes to use "IT'S TOO HOT!" as an excuse not to get off of the couch, yet instead sit and drink my day a... Again, today you may have guessed that I am feeling a little lazy (hence the short quote post) yet I have to say that I am beginning to admire these shots of inspiration in addition to the mile-high posts which I post ever so frequently. Today it seems that surrealist artist, Salavador Dali decided to grab my attention (most probably because I have just finished my last school exam and whilst I had some time to myself to ponder what the last five years of school have taught me and what the ne... For those of you who are unaware (which I presume the majority of you may be) The Village Green is an up-and-coming London-based brand which I discovered whilst having a flick through Topman on the hunt for a preppy blazer to tide me over this Summer, and yes girls, I know you may be thinking "god, not another Topman related post" yet I can assure you that despite the fact that in this post I will be focusing on the Men's side of the label, shockingly enough The Village Green also have a prep... Today I decided to keep things a little simple and post something which was a little more ponderable than usual (woah, ponderable is a word? thank you dictionary.) Those of you who have been reading my posts since the very beginning of That's So New York (around six months ago? or something like that) will most probably know that The Devil Wears Prada is one of my favorite films of all time; despite the fact I lean a little more towards the unique/alternative side of the fashion industry, as ... Pleasure Principle
Posted by Daniel Dunt on Wednesday, June 22, 2011,
In relation to my "Where the Shimmer Lies" Odeur post just a couple of days ago, I thought that I would shout about one of my additional OAK NYC finds, Pleasure Principle. Pleasure Principle are certainly considered an up-and-coming label, or in my eyes more of a work in progress which has steadily progressed since its establishment back in 2002. A quick introduction to the label- Pleasure Principle is a New York-based label which was established in 2002 (as mentioned previously) as a collabo... Continue reading ...

Fashion Icons
I'm fully aware that I can occasionally (frequently) ramble on a little when it comes to chatting about one of my favorite style 'icons' and yes, that does include my wife (I wish) Marina Diamandis of Marina and the Diamonds and the favorable Eliot Sumner of I Blame Coco. As I seem to have covered the female icon genre, I think it's time to turn to the male category and voice my opinion over up-and-coming English London-born singer/song-writer, Patrick Wolf. I'm pretty sure that the majority ... Continue reading ...
"Where the Shimmer Lies"
I can thank online-retailer OAK NYC entirely for my discovery of unique/alternative up-and-coming label, Odeur. Odeur specalise in creating simple yet inspiring unisex collections which immitate both sterotypical characteristics as well as that of their own. One collection in-particular which grabbed my attention was their most recent Spring/Summer 2011 collection which incorperated both light and dark palettes to create a mixture of urban and preppy attire. I have been pondering the transfor... Continue reading ...
A Bubbly Personae
I'm afraid that I cannot even take a glimmer of credit for this post, simply because the majority of you may have noticed that this is the same video which Susie Lau (Susie Bubble) of Style Bubble posted to her blog just a couple of days ago, yet I'm afraid that despite the fact that this video was not made by me (even though I would have loved to have taken credit for the quirky song which plays over the top of the video along with the talent behind the filming) I couldn't resist posting it ... Topshop, Top-What?
It seems that recently all of my posts have been about wannabe-unisex mens fashion labels and collections, yet I thought that I would post something a little more feminine-friendly, instead of making it look like I'm trying to turn every girl I come across into a Topman-crazed guy. Okay, so this post isn't far off my usual Topman personae as I haven't been flicking too far; instead I've changed that Topman.com into Topshop.com, yes they're both presented to us by the same company and both hav... Dear Mr. Lipop ...
After having a quick flick back through some of my posts, I noticed that despite the fact that I mentioned Lipop London briefly in my recent Bryce Aime post after my meeting with Lipop London Managing Director Eser Aydemir, I had not taken the time to scribble (or in this case type) down something which was dedicated entirely to the label; that's what I now plan to do (if you hadn't already guessed) - Okay, so a quick introduction to the label followed by an outline of the total aesthetic of ... Mobile Phone manufacturer Nokia has teamed up with international fashion magazine, ELLE. Nokia (along with ELLE) are currently running a competition (closing date June 21st 2011) where they're allowing absolutely anyone to post one of their most stylish photographs of themselves to there Facebook page where the images will then be looked over by a handful of fashion professionals to decide which seven lucky individuals will be flown to New York Fashion Week where they will be handed a pen and... Topman/girl LTD Dustbowl
Those of you who have been reading That's So New York for a while now will most probably remember my Dear Jamie ... post which I presented you with around a month or so ago (the one where I rambled on about Topman and how it is unisex, etc? yeah, that's the one.) - I'm now considering this type of post to be a regular and scheduled-type of thing; something which both the males and females will want to read, seeming I have been aware that I do occasionally go on a little bit of a female frenzy... Art
In addition to the fashion industry, art has always managed to snatch a position among some of my top interests whilst also having a huge impact on the fashion industry itself; despite the fact that this post might not be entirely fashion relatable, when we look at art I think there is always something you can relate, whether it be the vast use of abnormal textures and colors or simply the different types of media we choose to throw together in both literal and art contexts. I'm sure that whe... Continue reading ...
Amateur meets Anthropologie
Once again I'm feeling like a slight amateur after being introduced to Anthropologie.eu just days ago by one of my very own readers (indeed, that means one of you guys) - Despite the fact that I seem to spend hours scouring high and low to find some of the best Online-Boutique content around, such as my recent discovery of Wolf & Badger and slightly older discovery of OAK NYC, Anthropologie managed to slip right through my fingers; therefore I cannot express the joy I had, followed by various... Bryce Aime
On Tuesday (07/06/2011) I was in London for a couple of meetings and things in regards to my Online-Boutique which will launch this coming August. One of the labels I felt privileged to have the chance to speak with is Lipop London and Managing Director, Eser Aydemir. Whilst speaking to Eser, he did mention one of Lipop London's many retailers, Wolf & Badger. Once I managed to finally get myself home after experiencing a very large amount of stomach jabbing and "get out of my way!" shrieks f... Continue reading ...

Editorial
With this post I've kinda decided to take the dare to be different root, despite the fact that before clicking that publish button I was briefly delayed with thoughts of "are you sure that you want to post this?" and "DON'T DO IT!" flooding my mind. Photography is one of many sectors within the fashion industry which at times can be a little risque, especially when we look at the work of photographer, Steven Klein who seems to insist that in absolutely any photo-shoot he takes part in, the mo... Rock, Paper, Nails?
Despite the fact that it has been not months, but just weeks since I last mentioned Alex & Chloe, it was inevitable that they were going to get some kind of a mention in reference to their most recent Cheap Monday jewelry they've thrown on the store. Okay, so I'm not going to ramble on about the items too much (promise) but perhaps just a small opinion along with a description of some-sort, yeah? - The most recent Cheap Monday jewelry to hit the Alex & Chloe store is a little surreal with a f... Two Sugars or One?
Henrik Vibskov is one designer I have been wanting to sit down and tap about for quite a while now; his Spring/Summer 2011 collection in-particularly grabbed my attention. Apologies that this post has been slightly neglected since I first jotted up some of my initial thoughts and opinions, purely because I suddenly began a small preaching session about Steampunk and what-not, yet I did promise you something a little more elegant, and I'm not one to break a promise. Roofless Cadillac’s, Zimb... Continue reading ...

You've all guessed it, this is an entire post dedicated to the Steampunk goggles which I banged on about towards the end of my previous post, "Etsy- Marry Me?" and yes, I am again going to remind you that just because the Steampunk movement has been compared to the vast amount of gothic fashions out there, that does not mean that I'm a heavy-metal, leather-lover. (no offense to those of you who do love a little bit of head bangin' on a saturday afternoon) - My personal opinion, along with the... Continue reading ...

I've recently discovered Etsy.com- okay, so I haven't recently discovered it, I mean that I've recently discovered my obsession with Etsy.com. If you had told me just a year ago that people shop at Second-hand, Charity and Thrift stores, my reaction would have been somewhat like, "Really? others peoples old clothes?" but with my recent addiction to vintage thriving, it was inevitable that almost everything I took a liking to would have been worn somewhere along to line, and the thought of buy...
